The NBA is kicking off its third annual Green Week, with all 30 franchises teaming up to raise awareness and funding to protect our environment. Players will not only participate in hands on greenery projects, but they will also wear special on-court apparel beneficial to the environment and teams will hold special auctions to benefit environmental preservation organizations.
Adidas, the leagues official outfitter, will dress players in 100-percent organic cotton shooting shirts featuring the NBA Green logo. Players will also be sporting NBA Green headbands and wristbands made of 45-percent organic cotton during national broadcast games to help raise environmental awareness.
Each of the league’s 30 teams will individually encourage their fans to participate in a variety of greenery events in their community. Teams will host community service events, including tree plantings, recycling drives, park clean up days, and the refurbishment of Reading and Learning Centers using environmental friendly materials. Teams will also hold auctions in the arenas during the Go Green Nights to support environmental protection programs and promotions.
Fans are encouraged to follow the NBA in their Go Green initiatives and will be able to purchase Adidias 100-percent cotton T’s through NBAStore.com or selected team retailers.
