The Toronto Blue Jays are giving young fans more to cheer about this upcoming season than just their on-field success. This summer the Jays will be back on the road with the Blue Jays Community Cruiser reaching all corners of the GTA.
The Jays, who have run a successful JAYS@SCHOOL campaign, will be once again taking an outdoor community tour to help keep kids fit and active.
This free, interactive spring and summer baseball tour, visits minor league baseball tournaments, schools, and camps throughout the Greater Toronto Area. The Community Cruiser blends baseball with interactive activities that give children the chance to step outside and learn about their favourite pass time.
Each appearance will have activities and events put on by crew organizers within the inflatable pitching and batting cages. Kids will have the chance to participate in speed and accuracy pitching, along with the chance to hit a home run out of the inflatable Rogers Centre.
Awards and prizes will be handed out to participants based on their effort and enthusiasm, not skill level, thus promoting the enjoyment and participation of baseball.
With the Blue Jays lacking attendance over the better part of the last 15 years, events such as the Community Cruiser, are a step in the right direction for not only minor league baseball, but the support for the home team.
