The Mike Weir Foundation and the SickKids Foundation will be teaming up to host the Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids this spring in Toronto. Presented by Thomson Reuters, proceeds will be supporting the Research and Learning Tower Campaign at The Hospital for Sick Children.
This year’s event will be taking place at Angus Glen Golf Club on June 7, 2011, in Markham, Ontario, with an evening reception for VIP guests and sponsors held on June 6. The Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids has raised over $2.5 million to date for pediatric health care across Canada.
The SickKids Research & Learning Tower will be a 21-storey, 750,000-square-foot hub for pediatric health research in Toronto’s Discovery District. Giving 2,000 scientists and staff a place to share ideas about the current state of health care, and continue to learn about today’s medicine.
Last year’s benefit which was held in Winnipeg raised $625,000 for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.
In addition to this year’s tournament, SickKids is also organizing a Kids Putt for SickKids event. Preceding the Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive, the putt for SickKids will take place on June 4, 2011, at Ontario Place. This event will give children a chance to help support the families and kids who rely on SickKids. Throughout the day children will have a chance to mini putt, play games and fundraise for a chance to meet Mike Weir.
