At the end of every season in every league around the world, players and coaches are awarded for their successful seasons however it may have come to them. Whether they finished the season with the most goals or points in the league and that’s the reason for their award or if they were the best coach of the year throughout the entire league, they will be rewarded for it. Usually when this happens, it just means that the player has some hardware to add to his/her collection and even the bragging rights to being one of the best players recognized throughout the entire league.
However, when it comes to winning the Coach of the Year in NCAA Football, you get a lot more than just the hardware. The Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award gets awarded at the end of every season to the winning coach from each of the four NCAA Football divisions. Aside from the hardware, each coach is given $50,000 to donate to the charity of their choice, as well as a $20,000 grant to donate to their school’s alumni association.
Here are some of the stories, told by some of the greatest coaches.
